It was early May school break
again, and time for our regular trip to France for some good weather and
outdoor activities. The main project during this week was building a stable box
in our barn, in order to be ready to receive Beau this summer. Mary and the
girls used any material that was available (including a tree in the garden),
and in 4 days constructed a professional box, with a door. They were obviously
very pleased with themselves, and rightly so!
The rest of the time was spent in
the garden, cutting the grass and clearing away some of the branches that fell
down over the winter. Piet managed a few bike rides, and also took Dorien up Col d’Ornon, all in preparation for her future ride up Alpe d’Huez. We also did a hike
around St. Cristophe en Oisans, at the edge of Parc des Ecrins. All the
mountains were still covered in snow, and the great scenery stimulated us to
make plans for the summer!
The
weather during the week was variable, but luckily it rained mostly at night,
and most days were spent outside. On Sunday we drove back to our last semester
of school and work, with the main focus on trailer-training for Beau; although
he has a hotel room now, he still has to get to France!
